William H. Constad MD completed his ophthalmology residency at UMDNJ (now Rutgers Medical School) and then furthered his training by completing a Fellowship in diseases and surgeries of the Cornea with Dr. Jorge Buxton at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary. Dr. Constad joined HEPS in 1985, practicing general ophthalmology and specializing in diseases and surgeries of the cornea, including refractive surgery. Dr. Constad is a Clinical Professor at Rutgers Medical School and actively participates in teaching and research. He served on the editorial board for the Mount Sinai Journal of Medicine for several years, and has contributed numerous articles and textbook chapters to the ophthalmic literature. Dr. Constad is currently the Medical Director of the New Jersey Eyebank - Eversight New Jersey, as well as serving on its Board of Trustees. Eversight New Jersey is a subsidiary of the Eversight - an Eye Bank with 7 subsidiaries, and Dr Constad currently serves on its Board of Trustees. Dr. Constad was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1985. Dr. Constad has been listed as one of the TOP DOCTORS in the New York Metropolitan Area and in New Jersey since 1998.
Dr Constad's practice specialization is in Corneal Tranplantation of all types; specialty contact lens fitting for Keratoconus and scarring, post transplantation and post refractive surgery. LASIK, PRK, Cataract Surgery with Premium Technology (Restor, Restor Toric, Crystalens, Technis and Trulign) and standard Intra Ocular Lenses are a large part of his practice.
Dr Constad has been very much involved with the ongoing evolution of electronic medical records. He has designed the database that is used in the practice. He is in partnership with a programmer - Patrick Marri in a company Doc-Vault, LLC which has software packages for document and image storage and vision testing.
